Alflorex for IBS capsules have been formulated to be swallowed whole, with water, milk or non-acid juices. If there is difficulty swallowing, the capsules can be opened and mixed with the cold or temperate food or drink to be consumed immediately. Emptying the contents in a hot food or drink is not recommended.
If you miss a day taking your dose, you do not need to double it the next day. Continue with the indicated 1 capsule per day.
Alflorex IBS should be taken daily. The 35624 live bacterial culture in Alflorex stays in your gut for as long as you continue to take the product. It performs its action in the gut and then will naturally be swept out by regular bowel movements.
The recommendation is to take Alflorex for 4 weeks to prepare the intestine and then continue taking it daily to maintain its effect. Very rarely has the strain 35624 needed more than 4 weeks to prepare the gut, but it can reach up to 8-12 weeks.
By taking a single capsule of Alflorex every day you can ensure your gut remains primed.

However, Alflorex for IBS can be taken as part of a meal that has fruit juice, as the food will help protect the Alflorex culture.

PrecisionBiotic cultures are unique bacterial cultures that have been specifically researched and rigorously tested by scientists at PrecisionBiotics Ltd.
All products contain bacteria that occur naturally in the human gut and are at home there.
PrecisionBiotics spend many years observing and testing them in real people to ensure they have the precise features needed and that they meet our rigorous safety standards.
To ensure that they reach the gut in optimal conditions, PrecisionBiotics™ has created special formulations and confirmed its activity in the gut, meeting the highest requirements for scientific testing and clinical trials in humans. These formulations are stable and therefore ensure that none of the products containing them need refrigeration.
PrecisionBiotics means specific bacteria, in the right amount.
Yogurts are made by fermenting milk with lactic acid-producing bacterial cultures, such as Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus (starting cultures) that are added during the manufacturing process.
The starting strains used in these fermentation processes to make yogurts are not native to the human gut and have not been tested in clinical trials.
Many yoghurts contain live bacterial cultures, but these are usually chosen to make good yoghurt, not for their activity in the human gut. If bacterial cultures have been added during the manufacturing process, they may not be cultures that have been tested in clinical trials or that are native to the human gut.
In contrast, the 35624 culture of Alflorex for IBS is a highly specialized strain that has been isolated from the human gut, and which by scientific methods has been selected to obtain a targeted therapeutic action.
We"re sometimes asked why PrecisionBiotics products contain only one or two types of bacteria, instead of a mix of five or even ten types.
As scientists, we know that mixing multiple bacterial cultures can mean their individual features are affected. Different cultures behave in different ways and may even have competing effects. Cultures of animal or plant origin may not be native to the human gut, so we do not add them.
It is the specific culture of bacteria and how that culture interacts with your unique gut bacteria that determines whether you will notice a difference.
So, PrecisionBiotics focus is on investing to find the best bacterial culture for each specific gut action. We then put each culture through a rigorous series of tests, culminating in clinical trials in the UK and Europe.
They produce a pure formulation, with no added bulk yoghurt or animal cultures, to provide a PrecisionBiotic product that they can guarantee and that clinicians can recommend.
They also guarantee that the number of bacteria is the optimal amount for each PrecisionBiotic product and how it works in the human gut.
The term probiotic is a word meaning "pro-life".
On this base, probiotics have been defined as "living microorganisms that confer a health benefit for the body when administered in adequate amounts".
Probiotics are increasingly used and evaluated on digestive balance function. Many clinical studies demonstrate the importance of probiotics in improving gut health and for stimulating immune function.
However, different probiotics can also have different benefits. Studies investigating the health effects of probiotics have been documented in areas such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBD), vaginal infections, immune enhancement, atopic eczema, rheumatoid arthritis and liver cirrhosis.
Prebiotics are non-digestible dietary ingredients, whose function is to stimulate the growth or activity of some bacteria of the gut microbiota, resulting in a health benefit.
Symbiotic is the combination of probiotics and prebiotics.
